چکیده

In this article, a widely used building model, comprised of uniform coupled flexural and shear beams, herein improved by allowing for the effects rotational inertia. Closed-form solutions in terms trigonometric hyperbolic functions are obtained, explicit formulation period ratios, modal participation factors (MPFs), mode shapes, shape derivatives based solely on displacement response, without coupling with chord rotations, which is case Timoshenko beam model. This makes model proposed study more convenient assessing behavior to ground motion, explicitly highlighting effect inertia their response earthquakes, making studying its beneficial mitigating buildings motion. It observed that induces mild fundamental lengthening, while notably reducing ratios between higher modes one. can lead an enhanced motion showcasing narrow-band characteristics. However, most severe found be MPF, significantly diminished. leads important reductions overall as consequence attenuation first-mode along undercutting modes. The results demonstrate considering assessment in-plane structural horizontal conservative results. Moreover, showcase advantages providing supplemental way improve seismic buildings.

On the Closed-Form Solution of a Nonlinear Difference Equation and Another Proof to Sroysang’s Conjecture

The purpose of this paper is twofold. First we derive theoretically, using appropriate transformation on x(n), the closed-form solution of the nonlinear difference equation x(n+1) = 1/(±1 + x(n)), n ∈ N_0. The form of solution of this equation, however, was first obtained in [10] but through induction principle. Then, with the solution of the above equation at hand, we prove a case ...

A closed-form solution to blind equalization

1 Abstract In some recent papers new algorithms for blind adaptive equalization were proposed. These algorithms are based on the stochastic gradient method and thus can be regarded as a blindd counterpart to the classic LMS-(least mean squares-) algorithms. It is well-known that these algorithms show relatively slow convergence speed. The classic solution to get fast convergence is the RLS-(rec...

A closed-form solution to HZE propagation.

An analytic solution for high-energy heavy ion transport assuming straight-ahead and velocity-conserving interactions with constant nuclear cross-reactions is given in terms of a Green's function. The series solution for the Green's function is rapidly convergent for most practical applications. The Green's function technique can be applied with equal success to laboratory beams as well as to g...

Precision Closed-form Solution for Out-of-plane Vibration of Rectangular Plates via Trigonometric Shear Deformation Theory

In this study, the new refine trigonometric shear deformation plate theory is used to study the out-of-plane vibration of the rectangular isotropic plates with different boundary conditions. The novelty of the research is that the analytical precision closed-form solution is developed without any use of approximation for a combination of six different boundary conditions; specifically, two oppo...
